Three kiwis a day lower the blood pressure. It is the result of a research from the American Heart Association in Orlando, Florida (USA). The research, conducted from Mette Svendsen University Hospital of Oslo in Norway, has revealed that eating one kiwi three times a day causes a sudden decline of blood pressure. An important discovery, considering that high pressure is the first “killer factor” among heart diseases.
The survey has been conducted in 8 weeks and has involved 118 subjects with a medium age of 55 years and with slightly high blood pressure. Half of the group has added 3 kiwis in their daily diet, the other half has also added an apple in their daily diet. The kiwi has resulted to be more efficient.
The secret? The antioxidative properties of the lutein, contained in the kiwi. After the set time, in fact, researchers have discovered that the group of people who followed the “kiwi-therapy”, daily had a systolic blood pressure around 3,6 mm mercury inferior than apple consumers.
Also, the diastolic pressure was inferior in the group that had kiwis, but, in this case, the link to the fruit is not confirmed by researches.
