Plum

Summer is the season of plums. Depending on the varieties the ripen between July and august, but we can find some kinds of plums also in September. One of the main properties of plums is represented by their richness in vitamin A and fibres.

The vitamin A is important to protect the skin and the organs of our body, from the early aging to the action of free radicals. Eating fruit rich in vitamin A, like plums, can also protect us from damages caused by an excessive exposition to the sun. From this point of view, it is important to remember that the summer offers us many fruits which help the skin. Do not forget to consume plums, peaches, melons, carrots and apricots during the summer season, in order to protect the skin from the inside.

The content of fibres in the plums make them quite useful in order to regulate the activity of the intestine. In addition to the fibre content, the plums are rich in water, in vitamins and in mineral salts beneficial for the body. In fact, the plums only contain the vitamin A, but also the vitamin C and the vitamin for group B.

Regarding the mineral salts, the plums contain a lot of potassium, a very important substance to maintain the blood pressure regular, mainly in case of hypertension and to prevent muscular cramps. The mineral salt present in the plums are magnesium, calcium and phosphorus.
